Two stunning three metre diameter globes weighing over 200kgs each were the centre pieces of the Stella McCartney store’s first floor. Hand-built by our manufacturing partners, Profile Lighting, they were constructed from rolled and welded steel plates.
However, the globes were too large for the stairway and it wasn’t possible to lift them through a window. After careful planning each globe was dismantled and carried up the stairs in sections and reassembled in situ.
The final installation involved using specially adapted lifting equipment to hang the globes. The end result is sensational.
